I 
was referred to Work Connect by my personal adviser, who thought that maybe with the right support and the right opportunity; I could make my way back into employment after a period of nearly 10 years away from the work place. I met with my Employment Officer, Robert from AMH, who gave me all the support and encouragement to help me in considering my employment options, we decided to have a look at undertaking a short work trial, to give me a chance to see how I felt being back in the workplace and to help me decide what area of work was most suitable.
Robert then arranged for me to attend an informal interview with McKee’s in Maghera and it was agreed that I would undertake a short trial for 2-3 weeks, fortunately everything just fell into place, I enjoyed the work, being out meeting new people and very quickly I started to regain my confidence and felt that I had never been away from work. It’s great to have someone there to help smooth out any initial problems and to talk through any issues either in work or with the benefits side of things.
